Anyone who is a reader and science fiction junkie and just likes a great exciting novel, I would recommend discovering Robert Sawyer. To start I would recommend a trilogy first recommended to me by Ron on SI. It is called www.wake.

It is about a 15 year old blind girl that gets a software implant so she can see, but is also hooked up to the Internet and notices the Internet is gaining a consciousness. This guy Sawyer is as smart as Asimov and an even better writer in terms of mystery and creativity, imo. And that is saying a lot.

When Ron recommended him to me a year ago, I had been in kind of a slump as far as reading goes. And I went right through eight of his books in a row I thought they were so interesting and fun to read. And boy did I learn a lot of stuff I didn't know e.g. scientists have math equations to determine if a noise has logic. And even have a scale to measure it i.e. we are a nine and monkeys 04 I think-lol. anyway, he just came out with a new book that sounds interesting.

PS I wonder how anyone can know as much as this guy knows?
