Call me a purpetual sucker, but I think this one is going to gain back.

Corel could double it's current market value by taking two simple steps: firing Cowdung and hiring a competent technology chief. Once they've completed those tasks, they need to put together a road map detailing their Java plans. The banks, broadcasters, retailers and hospitality industries are following the lead of Computer Associates, IBM, Sun and the now 1,000,000 strong army of Java developers. I have to give it to Corel for seeing this trend early on but there's no excuse for failing to grasp even the most fundamental design and development concepts of that environment. It's like the whole object-oriented phenomenon has blown right over their heads for the last 5 or 10 years. They were simply jumping on the bandwagon, blindfolded with no idea where they were going, what they were doing. They need to come to terms with the simple fact that they do not have the particular kind of expertise they need to compete at this level. Earth to Corel: you have no development process; you have nobody their that can help you remedy that. They need outside help but not at the expense of fulfilling their primary objective: canning the cowpie.
