If you really want to get into some lively discussion about the y2k issue, read the newsgroup dedicated to it. It's mostly computer "geeks" talking about the software side of things, but lately there has been more discussion about embedded controllers. One programmer who posts frequently there, Cory Hamasaki, states..."process controllers are everywhere, and no question some have clocks, and some clocks will fail." He also states that they have already have been proven to fail in "strange and wonderful ways."
Some of the discussion is very technical and is hard to understand, but there is also alot even a kid with no knowledge of computers will get. The newsgroup title is...Comp.software.year-2000
Also check out this URL...http://www.euy2k.com/embedded.htm

PS. You may have to do a lot of sifting to get to stuff about the embedded problem, but it's worth your time if you have the slightest interest. So check out that newsgroup!
