I once read an article that explained how a highly educated people like the Germans could follow Hitler so blindly. And it had to do with their military and conformity culture. Same is pretty much true of Japan. That has always been the baffling equation, how cultural imprinting can subordinate education to its will. But that is a different issue than education without dogma. Which is one of the main reasons I'm so much in favor of public education, public teachers span the entire spectrum of human psychology and that prevents dogma. Dogma is the big killer of true cognitive excellence.
