<< the Nomai situation muddies the water. >> I agree, but I also think this will affect IOM the same way the infamous AOL dial up issues affected AOL earlier this year. A big short term scare, and then the stock went on to double it's recent highs.

I just don't see how this will affect IOM in a long run. All they need to do is to put a label "Accept Zip(TM) product from Iomega(TM) only" on their zip drive box.

What I see about this Nomai event is just politics. The local government want to protect their local company and economy by going against Iomega. There is also a tinge of anti-American sentiment there. If I were Iomega's management, I will cut off shipping any Iomega product to that region. Once local merchants don't get any revenue from selling Zip products, sentiment will change. Market supply/demand will eventually prevail. They derive 28% sales from Europe - no swell, it's nothing more than a temporary loss.

What I see Iomega needs is a public campaign to increase the awareness of Iomega's products. I will burn the cash from the sales of Zip drives to get more ads on TV, magazines, etc.

Brand-name recognization is perhaps the most valuable asset Iomega will have in this storage device commodity industry.

I will not waste my money on lawyers.
