I have a Samsung 7” Tablet that is 4 years old and has a nice display. I have Kobo app and Kindle and both display well. Because I use a VPN on the tablet it takes a little longer to load but once loaded is great.

However, I find my Galaxy S5 phone also with the apps to be the best. Nice size. Easy to change font size and loads almost instantly.

My least favorite reading device is the desktop.

Just my thoughts,

Jim K

Longevity is getting better for mobile devices, but you may find that having multiple readers is practical for all the formats you read and the situations you use a reader.

It's very hard to have a single device do all you want and I realize this wasn't the answer you were looking for, but this approach will increase your options to fill in the gaps and with using several readers, battery and device life will be increased for your different units.
