I am in agreement that SanDisk should have been worth more, but I've come to believe that SanDisk was motivated to sell for some currently unknown reason. I suspect this is related to Toshiba's troubles.

That being said, I've also come to believe that under the conditions that motivated SanDisk to sell, that Western Digital has substantially more upside than SanDisk would have had on its own. Over the last week, I've converted the majority of my SanDisk shares to Western Digital. I will let remaining shares, and options, settle upon merger closure.

SanDisk has been a much misunderstood company, and as such, there has been much misunderstanding about the merger. While many have painted this as the marriage of two failing businesses, it is actually a marriage made in heaven that will provide exceptional returns to long term investors.
