Ron, spread a sheet out on the floor, under and out to the side and lay the tree down on it. Make sure the sheet is large enough for the tree. Then wrap the tree up in the sheet. Should be able to get most of the tree out and down the stairs without getting too many needles everywhere. Next year...(put a sheet in the ornament box)...put the sheet down before setting up the tree. Then spread out sheet underneath tree while taking off decorations. Then wrap tree and stand in sheet. Out the door and down the stairs. Take stand off when outside. Works pretty good. Tho I have an artificial tree since the last time we had a real one, hubby put it in the burn barrel and it went "poof". Scared the be#$%us out of him. We thought it was still ok when we took it down.
