Jan,

Glad your son made out alright. I've seen some auto-rotations gone bad that busted up the crew pretty badly. Huey's and Cobra's have a knack of busting the skids off if you hit too hard during practice landings.

But it is spectacular to watch... rotor blades shattered and pieces flying everywhere. I knew one Aviation Attack Battalion that flew all of their aircraft to Ft. Bliss and wound up trucking them back after sand tore up all of their turbines. A couple of these were compressor stalls that resulted in Class B(?) accidents.

GPS is relevant to so many systems nowadays. Tomahawk missiles, JSTARS, and aircraft of all types. Combine that with embedded controller chips in these weapon systems and you have a grave threat to National Security. Add to the fact that much Source Code will be remediated by non-vetted programers from foreign countries may lead to interesting problems as well.

Regards,

Ron
