GREENLAND, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 29, 1997--What do hunters, hikers, campers, fishermen, surveyors, engineers, and real estate professionals have in common? They all use topographic maps. Now with TopoScout(TM) you can print your own version of a USGS topo map, record trails, even mark and measure distance and area with just a click of a mouse. View maps in four zoom levels, with path elevation and line of sight profiling, along with an extensive place finder. Don't get lost without it. Besides the ability to view and print the maps with TopoScout, the user can create markers and symbols for places of interest, such as favorite hunting or fishing spots or a proposed building site. Because the maps are geo-referenced, you can enter GPS coordinates in latitude and longitude, UTM or MGRS and bookmark the map for instant retrieval. "It's really a new way to explore the outdoors," says Martin Fox, spokesperson for MapTech (formerly Earthvisions Inc). "Now with the power of desktop computers everyone can easily unlock a wealth of mapping information to plan, map, and record their outdoor ventures." Called TopoScout, (formerly named G-REF), Ohio has 822 maps on 4 CDs. The entire set sells for $279, with individual CDs at $99. The 4 set CDs are Northwest OH/Lima/Toledo (218 maps), Northeast OH/Cleveland/Canton (167 maps), Southwest OH/Columbus/Cincinnati (255 maps), and Southeast OH (182 maps). The CD-ROM includes both 1:24,000 (7.5-minute) and 1:100,000 map scales. USGS paper maps typically sell for $5 or more per map. TopoScout is a real value with over 200 maps per CD for $99 versus $1,000 for paper maps that rip and wear out. MapTech has a working demo of one map along with all the navigational tools available. Download from their web site at: www.maptech.com. Reviewers can receive a free CD by contacting Martin Fox at 603/433-8500. TopoScout is available for CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV. In January 1988, Oregon, Illinois and Michigan will be released

. The company is in the process of completing the entire country. System Requirements: Windows 95, Windows 3.1 or Windows NT, 486 CPU or better, 2x CD-ROM (4X recommended), 8MB of RAM (16MB recommended), mouse or drawing equivalent.
