If they have caught the perp I haven't heard about it. Quite frankly, with 17 deputies and a county that is 150 miles long and more than 50 miles wide (don't quote me on that), our deputy coverage is very thin. I do see a State Trooper pulling over a lot of speeders on the highway. One thing that I like about the Neighborhood Patrol is that the patrol cruiser sits in my driveway all the time. I think it may be a deterrent. Also, I'm one of the many well-heeled citizens around here. We keep racking up another dozen or so permit holders every month when the sheriff comes down here to accept applications. A guy I patrol with sometimes did get shot some years back. I think it was before I moved to this area.
