Robert,, thanks for the posts. Looks like you happened across some "facts" to support some of the hair-brained "assumptions" that I have bestowed upon the thread today. You'll probably want to run them by the Intel people on this thread to make sure that all investor relations people have been consulted and adequate Intel funded television advertising for HP and IBM has appeared during prime time.
Only then will it be fact. On second thought we'll probably have to waiver the Intel funded advertising. This is the $1000 to $1500 range and we're supposed to be pushing Slot 1 chips, aren't we. Well maybe the advertising will come through as soon as we snatch the L2 cache off these cards. Thanks...

Bob, I distinctly remember reading one from the Yahoo site about a month ago. They basically interviewed/surveyed IT managers about their future PC spending plans, and the report concluded flat avergae cost per PC, with little interest in these sub-$1000s or NCs. Networking products, as well as servers, should be strong in '98. I think I posted on Intel thread so you can find it there.

I've also read stuff from PaineWebber basically saying the same thing. NCs, network computers, Windows terminals, etc. are just the flavor of the month and are really not catching on in corporations. Also, i was surprised by how many 486s currently exist, which have to be upgraded soon.
