IMHO, Sony/Fuji has no intention of ever releasing the HiFud. I think they are using it as a negotiating ploy to become licensees and not just "co-branders"(Fuji that is). If they were to become licensees they would make more $$$ and their clout in the channel would ensure that Zip wins. If they are going to make some serious $$$...they will keep everybody else out of the market.

I don't know what I would do if I were IOM....one licensee for Zip disks might not be all that bad.

But I don't think its going to happen.

Frank

NO Sony notebook has build-in Zip.
I did not see any laptop or notebook which has a zip in COMPUSA, NJ and PC warhoue in NJ. The salesman told me the best selling of Laptop or notebook is Sony, the 2nd one is IBM. Either one he sold does not have internal Zip. No one cares Zip for Laptop (including notebook) over there except me. In the booklet of the Sony note book, it says sony has HIFUD tech. Laptop is suppsed to demand more such high capacity removeable storage than desktop. That is why I don't understand IOM's position now.
