Gerry, this reminds me of the "Products Liability" fiasco of a few
years back. If all mid-cap and large-cap companies follow Ms. Judge's advice
there would be a real erosion of immediate profits and a negative effect for
several years thereafter,IMO.
Expensing these costs would have an impact on tax receipts (both
federal and state). This is a prescription for chaos!!
Do we keep our current commitments to Asian govts. (spelled "banks")?
If so, can we verify there y2k compliancy so they, and we, can keep track of the
whereabouts of those funds?
As I ruminate on these questions, and others raised in Ms.Judge's
article, I wonder how any analyst can issue an earnings forecast? If this isn't
reason enough for a bear market, what is?!!
