Well, it looks like Aubrey McClendon fell out with the group think that currently makes up that business. His demise in the court room may have been a risk to others involved, and they might have decided he had to go. The auto accident... may have been an accident I guess. He was reported to usually drive too fast, not wear a seatbelt, and use his communication devices such as mobile phone while driving. It also true to say the circumstances and nature of his accident bears close resemblance to that created by a "Boston Brakes" type of assassination. A large static structure such as a bridge, or a tree, telegraph pole, etc is supposedly used for the crash scene, or an oncoming vehicle can be used too. The subjects car braking system has some components added to it, everything else is left as normal. When near the chosen spot, the braking system is remotely taken over by radio control using a transmitter in a following car, and the brakes applied to one side of the victims car only. This causes the car to swerve to one side at high speed, no matter what the driver does. This mechanism first showed up in 1986 (as far as we the public know), but I am sure the technology could have been refined a great deal since then.
