Food stamp fraud . . .

The paper here just ran an article on the three ways food stamps are abused: (1) traded directly for (less) money or drugs; (2) accepted at a discount by stores, or by getting willingly shortchanged in stores (with some cash back); or (3) guest grocery shopping for someone else for money.

Guess what's coming here soon? Smart cards. But no bio-ID, so this helps solve only problem number 2. You can solve problems 1 and 2 with a smart card with bio-ID. Of course, we need this stuff put together technologically.

Buck, steve, I.D. don't mean nuthin'! Fake I.D. or stolen I.D solves the problem. I am surprised that no survalence photos were available. That is scarey. Time stamp on check matched with time stamp on photo is a wonderful thing for law enforcement.

The best solution is fingerprint everyone & do all transactions by fingerprint. No more messy pens and check pads to carry around. No more cash to buy stuff. Do it all with fingerprints. I love the idea. Nothing for low tech thieves to steal. Don't think it's going to happen in my life time!

Just felt the need to say something today. Any word on INS? Nothing on my news services.

Happy New Year
