There have been several studies that show the heat content of the atmosphere drives EDA positively.

CO2 models are based upon he heat content of the atmosphere driving EDA zero to negatively.

Another failure of the models in implementing any reality.

That is why this only is true if one believes in the models.
If there's really more stored energy in the atmosphere now than in the 30's, it would cause more 90 degree days.
