You always assume too much. It is a fact that people pay into SS. Yes, it is a tax, but it is a specific tax. It is only pain out of the general treasury because of LBJ and his pals decided that they could spend the SS reserves and pay claims out of the general treasury. I think SS is abused as is medicare from different fronts. False disability claims and phony doctor billing.

That doesn't change the fact that people pay in to it and get benefits related to the amounts they paid. I always paid the maximum every year and could have invested that much more wisely and done quite well. You pay into it and can refrain from collecting a benefit if you so desire.

How much did the freeloaders put in for food stamps, section 8, utility relief, medicaid, etc? At least the old farts put something in the pot.
