bearshark,

We can just turn off the satallite reciever and watch the local stations, but we never do that. There's just to much to watch on other channels to care about a local broadcast. Local news? I get enough of that on the radio in my car.

Bearshark:

We just got DirecTV also, and it's excellent. I don't know how it works in your area, but if you had cable and want to drop it, there's a rule that you can't get those channels until you have been off cable for three months! Talk about free market constraints and protectionism!

Anyway, you should be able to plug in your cable to the VCR or anyother input, and get the three broadcast channels, unless you have discontinued your cable service. At least that's the way it works here on W. coast of FL.
