With your needs, you should probably drop the cable and wait the 3 months required then consider getting the broadcast channels through directv. (This assumes your area has the same rules as mine, i.e., that your politicians also had their palms greased by the cable company and made the same rules to protect it from a superior modality.

With DirecTV, you can get all 5 HBO stations, but I don't think it's worth it, the films are bottom of the barrel. IMHO. But, I would recommend getting the STARZ package, their films are top grade and recent blockbuster films. Also, you'll get Bravo and the Independent Film Channel with great foreign and independent films you will not find in any U.S. theater.

It looks like we are going to have a strong push up on the techs. CSCO and Dell, the only two I looked at, seem to be ready to jump significantly.
