Don't you think some of it is a bet on how the European markets have done? If the US market develops a downward momentum of its own, these globex projections would be a good indication for those who trade short term to short a half-hour after the opening. Probably some people are already doing this, though, which means maybe the smarter thing would be to go long after about an hour or two and then get out before the close. But there are probably people who already have this idea, too.

So I guess I will just watch and speculate about the speculators.

Russell,

<< who are these guys buying globex up every morning,, and why???? >>

If I really knew the answer to that, I would be sitting on a beach somewhere, instead of freezing my butt off up here.

My guess is that the Plunge Team is developing a taste for playing the new leveraged market stabilization game on a preventative basis, instead of just on crashes. I find this scenario scary and costly, as it is tough to fight the fed with my puts.

:-((
