Things like eliminating child labor, 40 hour work weeks and the right to a job environment that isn't lethal were all pie in the sky until the last time we had an outbreak of progressiveness.

I don't consider these things pie in the sky...and remember that they all took place gradually. The labor movement took decades to evolve.

But those changes, and more, happened. Which doesn't mean it will happen again. And even if it does, it probably won't happen soon. But the time is ripe for revolutionary changes.

I think progress that lasts usually takes place in evolutionary steps. Revolution often results in reversal...often political reversal that sets back the very cause it espouses.
