Trump's point was, of course, economically correct. You can't pay Americans more than people make in other countries in a global economy and expect jobs t po stay here. You can eliminate the corporate income tax and get jobs back, for now. And you can reduce make it less expensive for employers to hire I skilled labor by eliminating the minimum wage and requiring overtime Payton people who want to work OT. When you don't have enough jobs you do what you can to make hiring people more attractive than replacing them with machines.
