I find it hard to believe, also. But there is a company, apparently, already doing it with salmon, and if it received approval by regulators someone must have wanted it. Sounds ridiculous to me. But you're talking about a ten dollar difference in gross wage, plus the after tax share of payroll taxes, workers comp, and processing plant overhead. Hell, they can process them out in the back yard in China and no one cares. I really don't see why anyone would use unskilled labor in the US unless it just couldn't be done anywhere else. Sad.
