The reason the Left stays so confused about economics is this point. It is production that causes economic growth. Production can be increased through innovation funded by capital. Producers create new products which the public is willing to sacrifice to buy. If you target essentials like food and electricity, the economy will be stagnant as it is today.

Innovation, creating new products, new ideas, these are things that cause growth to occur. Consumption is not enough to trigger growth.

In all cases, there must be production before meaningful economic growth can occur. When manufacturers decide they can start building for inventory you may have an opening for economic growth to begin.

Consumption of essential goods is just getting by.
