What Happens When You Build A Parking Lot Around A Thermometer?

This is what happens.

I am waiting for a CAGW enthusiast to explain it. “It’s not the parking lot! It’s all that CO2 that the automobiles emitted! That’s what warmed things up!”

I am reminded of the warmist who claimed that the reason why closed up cars get hot in the summer was because “all the carbon in the window glass works like a blanket to keep the heat in!” Yes. That really happened…

That was none other than Dr. David Suzuki:

Suzuki said that?! Ouch! Then again, Suzuki is the same “expert” who had no idea what the major temperature records were. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4SaIFsyxgA
Sadly, Suzuki proves himself to be a credentialed know-nothing.

I would say at least half of the land base measurement increase in the last 40 years is directly due to UHI and the failure to correct for it and too often correcting the measured record use the UHI flawed station as the benchmark.

Don’t worry Steve, all that will come out during Homogenization. Top Men are working on it. Top. Men.

You are correct Michael, it will all come out.
1. First eliminate the majority of stations. (This gives greater influence to the remaining)
2. Then manufacture a pseudo scientific study on why UHI does not matter. (Creating a false adjustment with “scientific” cover)
4. Then ignore about 50% of the remaining stations, further giving influence to those few that are left.
5. Then homogenize the urban and or parking lot stations, spreading their warmth up to 1200 KM.
6. Then continue to make monthly unexplained .01 degree adjustments to past records, invariably cooling the past. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2015/03/06/can-adjustments-right-a-wrong/#comment-1877173 (These add up)
7. Ignore the cooling southern ocean SSTs https://bobtisdale.wordpress.com/2010/05/31/giss-deletes-arctic-and-southern-ocean-sea-surface-temperature-data/
9. Wait for a strong El Nino and generally warm SSTs (The fading blob) and proclaim the “warmest year ever” CAGW to all, while threatening to prosecute climate change “deniers.

Yes, that ought to do it.

Hey David! Wow, good summary! Personally, it is number six that most sets my teeth on edge. On the others, they at least PRETEND to have good reasons, but the constant adjustments, month after month after year after year, with no explanation or procedure are nothing more than outright fraud.

Watts has done a very grueling study of US stations
The majority of stations are not in compliance with standards.
In addition there are two glaring faults

1)When there are for example, four stations in an area and three are too close to construction
so that they give off heat to the thermometers; and one remains in a rural area away from buildings and reads lower:
The low reading is considered to be an outlier and in error, so its readings are brought up to
the level of the others (part of the homogenization)
That is quite often the case.

2) Many of the white boxes the thermometers are in have lost paint and have darker areas.
I am sure everyone here will know the effects of that.

and what a nice experiment for a high school science fair. ‘Take pictures of one of the darkened boxes and reproduce it as best as possible. Build a second box, very white.
Take readings of thermometers placed in each over a period of time and compare the two.
Send the results to many places (from the mouth of babes). and win a science award and lots
of money, Get a degree. Teach in a prestigious college. and have Senator Whitehouse (D)
come after you and wreck your career.
——-Well, maybe I am getting carried away. :)
