That's inevitable, but the reduction of dividends (and many subsidies*) means less private spending which translates into job losses. I expect we'll slowly lose jobs and population until we reach some new equilibrium in 5-10 years.

*For example, the state is discontinuing a popular energy rebate program that reimbursed homeowners up to $10K to for making their homes more energy efficient. So contractors will be laying workers off, and some will go out of business entirely.
