Definitely tough on a lot. But It was inevitable considering the conditions. Remote, No access, Expensive , Low Grade deposit in a poor economy with Copper and Mos2 prices in the dumps. Located in a region where Labour costs are high. Combine that with Trudeau promising new environmental standards. It creates a great deal of uncertainty.
Just the election of a left leaning Government which pumps out environmental rhetoric over the concern for the economy and jobs. Saying business will have to adjust is enough to cause companies considering large expenditures to take pause.
Alberta is a good example. Companies certainly do adjust. They lower their spending, curtail projects, Lay off thousands and simply move to friendlier jurisdictions.

If Government wants business in their country they have to out compete the rest of the world. Trudeau by being against an oil pipeline to a port for off shore markets. Was literally an attack on oil companies including Teck's Ft. Hills operation. That alone is enough to imply how they intend to treat industry a whole.

So from my point of view as I, Mud, Spec and others have said in the past it is nor ever was a high priority project in Teck's eyes.

What could happen is EE realizing holding is now dead money for the next decade or two and that inflation will erode a lot of his investment value. May be inclined to propose a deal with Teck and move on.

As for Henderson leaving I suggested why and that in she would be looked after in a previous post. The writing has been on the wall for a long time.
