Doug:

I jsut q'ed Esteban re same: My friend at PaineWebber says that because settlements take three days, the 31st is not a tax-selling day after all. If true, that bollixes my plans for the day. My broker tells me to call my accountant, my accountant's answering machine says call me in January. If you're talking to your broker before then, could you ask him about it.
BTW: Esteban points out that the 23rd was super high-volume. That weakens the signal somewhat, no?

Ivan

PS: My no-fail bull index (new highs v new lows) tells me today's NAZ rally is weak.

SGI's beginning to mewl

Doug:

Currently testing the low of 11 7/8 on good volume (1.1m); if this breaks through and sinks another 1/2 pt and exceeds Tuesday's volume of 1.4m significantly, it could be the better play.
Lots o' action in the cattery today, uh?

Ivan

PS: Check out the yearly chart on SGI. The gap up in August is equal and equidistant to the gap-down. This isn't so much a H&S as a HP&S. Hairpiece and Shoulders. The Marv Albert of Dead Cat Bouncers.

Doug:

Your very good friend Chris has turned up on the "From the Trading Desk" thread. I haven't given up on him being a MM; I do know for sure that he's a very strange guy.

Ivan

PS: OXHP's currently filling a gap it created on the way down. Don't know what it all means. Oh, I long for the good old days when cats were cats and men were ...
How does the Spinal Tap song go:
Where the dew drops cry
and the cats meow,
I will take you there-re-re
I will show you HOW
Stonehenge!

ORCL It broke through the short term downtrend resistance today that goes from highs on 12/17 and 12/22. I hope it found support at $21. Stochastics at 0 and have only the way up. I am long until the next high. If it will be lower high I will short it, if higher high, will see. Michael

Doug,

Nietzsche wrote he was looking for a student not to appreciate him but to kill him. Was looking through old posts and found this one of yours telling me that OXHP was the call. If I know myself, I probably went with SGI just so I could say I did it on my own rather than follow the master.
