Ivan,

A propos of which. Do you know anything about settlement dates being 3 days after execution. I was told this by a reliable source. If true, it means that the 31st is not a souped-up PGDCEB day after all.

I just called Fidelity in regard to selling a mutual fund I own for a tax loss. He wasn't initially sure about settlement dates affecting tax loss and checked carefully. The answer was that settlement date does not affect tax loss, it's the trade date that creates a gain/loss.

SGI is flirting with a signal, volume needs to exceed 1482800 to exceed previous 3 days. The issue for me on this is that to exceed volume for the previous 5 days we need 2,589,800. It's a given that today's volume will exceed the last two shortened days. So I'm inclined to require 5 for a true signal. Whatcha think?
