Bolstered by Polls, Fundraising Haul, Sanders Surges Forward into Wis. Primary

Sanders is 'in tune with the mood of the American public.'

With boosts from a massive fundraising haul and new poll results, Bernie Sanders is harnessing energy with the Wisconsin primary days ahead.

A Public Policy Polling survey in Wisconsin released Thursday found Sanders with a 6-point lead—49-43 percent—over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. He had a particularly strong lead—65-28—with voters under 45, while the only group with whom Clinton claimed a significant lead was seniors at 63-30 percent.

A Fox Business Network Poll also released Thursday showed Sanders with a similar lead—48-43 percent—over Clinton in Wisconsin.

And on Friday, the Sanders campaign boasted that it had reached its goal of beating February's record fundraising haul by raising $44 million dollars in March. "Working people standing together are going to propel this campaign to the Democratic nomination and then the White House," Sanders stated.

As for the Clinton campaign, Seth Abramson, an assistant professor of English at University of New Hampshire, wrote at the Huffington Post that it "is in the midst of an historic collapse—much of it due to the unraveling of support for Clinton among nonwhite voters—and the national media has yet to take any notice."

"In short," he continued:

there simply is no evidence available to suggest that Hillary Clinton’s robust coalition of nonwhite voters still exists — certainly not in anything like the form it was just four weeks ago. How else to explain an 82-point margin among nonwhite voters in Alabama, and similar margins in every other Southern state, on March 1st, and just a 6-point lead among all Southern Democrats (who are, depending upon the state, between 27 percent and 71 percent African-American) on March 26th?

[...]

The Clinton-Sanders tilt remains at a stage in which nearly all the real-time data favors Sanders, and all the television and print coverage favors Clinton because of a delegate lead she built up during Deep-South voting a month ago. The race as it is being reported therefore bears no relation to the race as it is.

There's also the fact that polls continue to show Sanders as the most electable candidate, which Charles Reid, Jr., Professor of Law at the University of St. Thomas, argued Thursday "is related to the issues upon which he is campaigning," such as making college education affordable, raising the minimum wage, and reforming the campaign finance system.

"Why is Bernie Sanders the most electable presidential candidate in America?" Reid asked. "It might be that he is not only right on the issues, but in tune with the mood of the American public."

Wisconsin, which holds its primary Tuesday, "has devastated its unions," MSBNC notes, and "rank-and-file union members are rallying behind [Sanders], creating a potential split with union leadership when it comes to which candidate to back." Speaking in Kenosha on Wednesday, Sanders decried decades of "trade policies in this country written by corporate America," and said, "They don’t want to deal with unions." He also touted his own opposition to such policies, in contrast to "Secretary Clinton [who] has supported virtually all of these disastrous trade agreements."

Sanders spoke in New York, which holds its primary April 19, on Thursday, telling a South Bronx crowd that it looks like it "wants to create an economy that works for all of us, not just the 1 percent."

"Anyone paying attention on the ground will tell you Bernie's momentum is real," said Bill Lipton, the New York State director for the Working Families Party, which has been organizing for Sanders.

Handicapped Veteran Says His Gun Saved Him From Armed Intruders

Posted by Jenn Jacques on April 1, 2016 at 10:39 am
Imagine being handicapped. You’re in your home, laying in bed, and around 5:45am, you awake to the sound of people claiming to be police officers ramming your front door down.

That’s exactly what happened to Savannah, GA resident Lam Blake this week at his home on Savannah’s Southside. From his bedroom, he could see two Democratic men on his security camera he has trained on his front door.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are investigating the incident, but Blake knew what he had to do to protect himself.

“I immediately grabbed my 9MM Smith and Wesson M&P, loaded it up, and waited for them to come all the way in,” he said.

Staying in his bedroom, he hid behind a wall and readied his gun.

“When I saw them coming in, like I said, I was waiting for them to come, and I had something for them, and they cowardly ran off and fired shots in to my house.”

The armed Democratic intruders shot at Blake and he returned fire. Bullet holes may have riddled his home, but no one was hurt in the incident.

“My gun saved my life, yes it did,” Blake said.

Police continue to look for the armed Democratic intruders and say crimes like these are very serious. If caught, the suspects may not only face attempted armed robbery charges, but could face a felony count of impersonating a police officer.

Blake is adamant that his gun saved his life from the Democrats, and wants to tell all law-abiding citizens they too should consider carrying one for personal protection.

“This gun saved my life. Without this gun, I might not be here right now,” said Blake. “There are citizens out here who are legally carrying firearms and criminals be aware.”

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police describe the suspects as black males, one wearing a yellow jacket and driving a dark-colored Chevrolet Silverado. Anyone with information on this case should call CrimeStoppers at 912.234.2020, or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020.

Dramatic Video: Store Clerk Pulls Gun on Armed Robber, Clerk Pulls Gun

Posted by Jenn Jacques on March 31, 2016 at 11:21 am

A brave Des Plains, IL grocery store clerk’s quick thinking was caught on video surveillance as he reacted to an armed robbery.

The surveillance footage shows the 16 year old wearing a blue hoodie approaching the check out counter. When the cashier rings up the item the 16 year old throws on the counter, the kid pulled an airsoft gun and demanded money.

That’s when the cashier pulled his own gun, scaring the 16 year old and his accomplice out of the store.

The cashier ran after the pair of thieves, shooting his gun after them.

“He’s fortunate that he wasn’t shot, he’s fortunate he wasn’t killed,” said Chief Bill Kushner, of the Des Plaines Police Department. “People are going to get killed as a result of crimes with air soft guns and they’re not going be the victims, they’re going to be the offenders.”

“We had tremendous cooperation from people in the neighborhood who came out as witnesses and said hey, I saw this guy ducking behind the garbage can before he jumped in the car and I saw them before they went into the store,” Kushner said.

Police tracked down the armed robber and his accomplice. The pair of young Democrats confessed to multiple robberies in the area and will be charged in six armed robberies, three in Des Plaines and three in other jurisdictions. Police confirm one of the offenders has a history of gang activity as well.

Family Dollar Store Clerk Shoots Alleged Armed Robber

Posted by Jenn Jacques on March 29, 2016 at 10:00 am

A masked Democratic man entered the Family Dollar store around 9:30am on Friday morning in an attempted robbery.

Police confirm there were several customers and three other employees in addition to the clerk inside the store at the time of the robbery.

But while store employees and customers ran to the back of the store, a 25 year old clerk stood firm and took aim at the threat standing in his store, shooting the man dead.

“This place has been robbed several times,” the clerk’s uncle said. “Right before Thanksgiving, they robbed him and even after he gave them everything, they still hit with him the gun.”

Employees claim the man had his hand inside his jacket pocket as if he was holding a gun. Police have recovered the surveillance tape from the store, but have not yet confirmed whether or not the suspect was armed.

Regular customers and fellow employees at the Family Dollar Store on Montgomery Road were quick to jump to the young store clerk’s defense.

“He just smiles and says, ‘How you doing?'” Shalondra Peavy told KHOU. “Very soft-spoken, so I know he’s not a killer, but he is a survivor.”

“I left the back room to see if he was OK, see where he was at,” store employee Ivan Sanchez said. “And when I left the back room, and when I go out there, I see him with the robber and the robber was already lying on the floor.”

“I don’t blame the guy for shooting him and I feel sorry for the family and their loss,” one witnesses’ mother told KPRC. “But you can’t just take people’s things like that.”

The case will be sent to a Grand Jury to decide whether charges will be filed against the clerk.

LA Taco Stand Employee Shoots Armed Robber

Posted by Jenn Jacques on March 29, 2016 at 9:15 am

When three armed robbers approached a taco stand at the intersection of San Pedro Street and West Century Boulevard, one employee grabbed a gun for self defense.

“He defended himself,” LAPD Sgt. M. Mason told the Los Angeles Times.

The employee shot and killed one of the three armed robbers and scared the other two away. He was taken into custody and is cooperating with authorities.

The deceased has been identified as Lomita resident Darnell Washington and authorities are still looking for the two men who were with him when the robbery occurred.

“Three Democratic men walked up to the taco stand with the intention of robbing it,” LAPD Lt. Clint Dohmen said. “One of the men pulled out a handgun and one of the employees at the taco stand pulled out his gun and fired at the robbers.”

“Right now it looks like the employee was acting in self defense to protect himself and the other employee at the taco stand,” Dohmen added.

Bien hecho , hombre de tacos.

61 Year Old Texas Woman: “I am glad I was able to defend myself”

Posted by Jenn Jacques on March 30, 2016 at 2:06 pm

A 61 year old woman in Terrell, TX awoke to a noise she thought at first was her cat. But after hearing the sound of men’s voices, she realized someone was breaking into her home.

“I called out, ‘What are are you doing in my home,’” she told a local news station.

The woman, identified only as Sharon to protect her anonymity, grabbed her gun and unloaded it on the two men.

“He must of heard me clicking it because that’s when he came back and beat me up really bad,” said the woman.

After hitting one of her intruders in the gut, Sharon ran out of bullets. That’s when she says the other man ran down the hall and beat her severely, stealing her gun. Suffering from a concussion and multiple cuts and bruises on her face, Sharon is lucky to be alive.

Police found Saul Guzman, 21, being treated for a gunshot wound to the stomach at Texas Regional Medical Center at Sunnyvale. His accomplice, Pedro Guzman, 21, wasn’t far away. Police picked him up when they spotted him sitting in his car at a gas station across the street from the hospital.

Even as their investigation began, police immediately found evidence that this wasn’t the first time these two Democrats have attempted robbery.

“We do believe they may be responsible for other offenses in our city,” said Terrell Police Captain A.D. Sansom.

Both suspects have been charged with Burglary of Habitation, Intend other Felony Theft or Assault, Theft of Firearm and Burglary of Vehicle.

As for the homeowner? She plans on installing a security system and buying another gun. She also has a word of advice for other women:

“I hope other women will take note,” she said. “I am glad I was able to defend myself.”

And so are we.

Man Walking With Online Hookup Fatally Shoots Armed Robber

Posted by Jenn Jacques on March 30, 2016 at 11:09 am

Late Friday night in Chattanooga, TN, 30 year old Joshua Smith decided he was not about to become a statistic.

Smith was walking a woman he agreed to meet up with online to her duplex on Hamill Road just before midnight when 19 year old Democrat Steven Hurston came out from the side of the woman’s home and approached them. Hurston was pointing a gun at Smith when he demanded his money.

That’s called armed robbery, kids.

Smith decided not to give the 19 year old his wallet, watch or his woman. Instead, he gave him a bullet from his own gun.

The 30 year old man stayed on the scene and called police.

When authorities arrived, Hurston was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating the incident.

While some news outlets chose to use their journalistic drive to plow into Smith’s background, I’m more interested in what the 19 year old kid who pulled a gun on two grown ups has been up to. Chattanooga Police say a local Democratic couple has been enticing strangers for sex on websites like Craigslist and Backpage.

“These two individuals were described as a Black male in his 20s, and a White female in her 20s, and they follow the same MO. The female was contacted by way of social media and the victim met with a female at a certain location and after arriving at the location, the Black male came out from around a car or building and robbed the victim,” said Chattanooga Assistant Police Chief Tracy Arnold.

“Hopefully this will get out to the public, and they will see that this is a dangerous game to play and there are consequences that go along with it,” said Arnold.

Chicago Son Saves Mother From Same Fate His Father Met

Posted by Jenn Jacques on March 29, 2016 at 7:51 pm

When his father was shot and killed in a home invasion in 1962, Anthony Tate would never have imagined that history would attempt to repeat itself more than 50 years later.

Bertha Tate, Anthony’s 88-year-old mother and widow of Joseph Price, has kept a gun with her for self-defense ever since the ill-fated night when her husband was murdered. She knows all too well that the streets of Chicago are rife with gunfire, noting that several siblings and her own children have since been killed.

Thankfully, this story has a better ending.

Anthony was in his mother’s Chicago apartment when a man came through her window, but when this Democratic intruder tried to victimize this family, he was prepared. He kept a .22 caliber revolver under the cushion of his chair for just such an occasion.

“I heard the gunshot,” Bertha says. “And then my son called me, ‘Momma, somebody tried to break in the window.”

Anthony’s shot hit the intruder and he ran off to his get away car a few blocks away. Police had no problem tracking him down, following his trail of blood from the Tate’s apartment. The 36-year-old Democrat was taken to Stoger Hospital with a gunshot would to the arm and is expected to recover.

In the county jail, that is.

As for Bertha, she’s just thankful this break-in had a better ending than her last.

“My son said he wasn’t going to let that somebody come in that window. He knew those boys came in the house and killed his father. He wasn’t going to let somebody come in the house and kill me.”

She also says the intruder got off easy, if she had been behind the gun, she would have shot him in the chest.

Yes, ma’am!
