They're everywhere here in Florida... as always, some clown brought them into the U.S. illegally thinking it was "cool" to have them as pets, and then they escaped... we also now have a very large Burmese python population here in south Florida, especially in the Everglades, for the same reason... people get them as pets illegally and then they release them into the wild...

I believe the bees were part of an experiment in South America where they were attempting to increase honey production. The Africanized bees literally took over and have been moving north for years.
