For some reason, Japanese have the thickest hair follicles on Earth.

Now, my wife was born with a natural wave, got it from her father, who - unusual in Japan - had a curly hair. My wife used to say, that it was lucky her father wasn't born a girl with that hair, a catastrophe calling for a straight permanent before you can set up the hair traditional Japanese style. As a matter of fact, a Japanese invented the 'Straight Permanent' for that very same reason.
