starts to act like a grown up

This is what so bothers me about his promises to begin to 'act presidential'. A candidate shouldn't need a coach who instructs him on how best to 'act' in order to achieve the nomination, or the presidency. It is a man's genuine character that should sit at the top of the list of requirements for a real leader. 'Acting' one way or another, for political purposes, simply serves as yet another lie, since it does not reflect the man's genuine personality or behavior patterns.

Even though he had been an actor by trade, Ronald Reagan didn't need any coaches to tell him what the people were looking for in a candidate. He was simply himself 24/7, and that is what made him so endearing, and such a powerful (and naturally charismatic) leader. Attempting to be, or act like, something he was not was entirely foreign to his nature.
