DOJ: Microsoft is "unreasonable" news.com

Microsoft unreasonable? It might seem that way, but that's just because it's all beyond the comprehension of mere mortals.

The Justice Department today accused Microsoft (MSFT) of applying a "twisted" and "patently unreasonable" reading to a judge's order forbidding the software giant from packaging Web browsing software with its dominant Windows 95 operating system.

Well, twisted is as twisted does. I mean, me and the Judge are both a little confused by this install/uninstall business, but like I said before, it may be one of those philosophical imponderables, a yin/yang thing. I mean, the button says add/remove, so who's to say what it's supposed to do?

Today's filing is the last court document scheduled to address whether Microsoft is in compliance with Jackson's preliminary injunction. A court hearing on the matter is scheduled for January 13. Each side will be allowed to present one expert witness.

Hey, should I send a note to DOJ, tell them about my yin/yang theory? Somehow, I sort of doubt the parties to the dispute share my mordantly bemused attitude, but again, who's to say? I found a fictional alter ego, anyway, Joker in Full Metal Jacket

I think I was trying to suggest something about the duality of man, sir.

Colonel: The what?

Joker: The duality of man. The Jungian thing, sir.

Hey, Bill is the reification of Galt, and I'm the reification of Joker! Not quite, Kubrick as always is the true master of mordant humor, I am not worthy. For more scintilating dialogue like the above, laced with the Marine-style language I eschew these days, check out us.imdb.com, or just look it up at imdb.com, great site.

Cheers, Dan.
