My favorite jazz guitarist, Birelli Lagrene mail.google.com When Django Reinhardt died, Birelli was 13 yrs old. Staphan Grapelli still performed in a trio. Birelli's father knew him and brought Birelli back stage at the performance break.. Dad told Birelli to bring his guitar. Birelli taught himself jazz by listening to Django records over and over. So Grapelli said: "Your Dad says your pretty good. Play me something." Grapelli was astounded and invited Birelli to play with him the second half of the concert. The rest is history.
