<<OK

Now we are clear.

How do you get to the 90% who react emotionally? >>

I have thought about the subject above my entire adult life. The only way is through education. Education is the very foundation not only of modern civilization, but the structure of the brain itself.

As mentioned, as information comes into the brain, the brain builds software packages, computers which allow people to see a larger vision of reality. In science they call it knowledge directed perception. You cannot see what you do not understand.

Our ancestors 100,000 years ago did not see the world the way we see today. They could not count past two, they had no written language and it is probable even their speech was limited. As mentioned, we are born knowing how to speak, but reading and writing is difficult to learn. But the ancient Greeks tell us the minute the human species developed an alphabet and learn to write their thoughts down and the masses learned to read, intellectual sophistication took a gigantic jump.

Out of it came concepts like ethics and democracy, logic and science i.e. the very foundations of modern civilization. Even today if one looks closely and examines people's thought processes, one can learn to see that some people process information very quickly, while others struggle.

Most people in the world today are still operating using their hardwired animal brain to get through life and it doesn't work very well. Ignorance breeds chaos. We've made almost no gains in the Middle East because we have no practical way of transferring our knowledge of the modern world, of democracy, and indeed even simple things like counting to those people over there still living in the seven century.

They said they had trouble building a military in Afghanistan because so many people could not count. Many people don't know over there that the world is round. It is impossible to transfer information from one person to the other if the other person is not intellectually capable/ready to receiving the information. One cannot teach calculus to one who cannot count. And teaching abstract reasoning takes a long time.

This is why it is so hard to reform highly and uneducated people that are either in prison or can't see what Trump is about. The good news is that it has little to do with people being smart or not so smart. It is all about teaching people to think. Education.

A person needs to continually put good information into their minds, so their minds have something to work with. That is another problem, too many people go to the wrong sources for the information like FOX news. If one wants to build a strong mind, one does not listen to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, they listen to Rachel Maddow, read books by Bertrand Russell, Alfred North Whitehead and all the great thinkers. We know who the great thinkers are.

That is why I try to get everybody I know to read The Axe Makers gift, because anyone who reads it will get a great outline of the reality we're living in and then they will know what they need to do to fill in the missing information.

First and foremost in developing the mind is to learn from the people that know what they're talking about, not from the intellectual charlatans.
