When billions of people start moving around the planet and interbreeding with each other there is a regression to the mean. And that is what is happening worldwide. Anybody that thinks there's some natural selection taking place to make us smarter or dumber does not understand either evolution or statistics, or the brain. Those countries that succeed best in the world, are the countries that educate their children well. And that is true all over the world and real easy to prove. In some countries in the world the kids study day and night and it shows in their ability to think. In countries like many of the Asian and Scandinavian countries the kids are pushed to study day and night from birth. If you think that natural intelligence can trump that you are dead wrong. A developed mind, will beat an undeveloped mind every time. There are no great poker players or chess players out there that didn't spend a zillion hours learning how to play the game. That is what learning is about. Scientific American and mind magazine did long articles on the "expert mind"and the 10 year rule a whie back. They studied chess players and they said it took 10 years to develop an "expert mind". More than to train a neurosurgeon. But it was a matter of learning. When you learn to ski, or rollerskate, or walk on stilts, that is the brain setting up a software package that allows you to do that. If you can do any of those, you know that after you learn them you don't think about it anymore you just do them because a software package knows what to do. Thinking is exactly the same thing.
