I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

Just curious: Would you agree that the main reason it was a "BS" war is because of the rules of engagement and interference by Washington DC?

The war was a fear-based war. But the real fear was that the ideological premise as regards the proletariat uprising was a correct premise. The real fear was that America would succumb (someday) to a proletariat uprising. Hence the Communist witch hunts.

Educated people know that the Communist ideology is a savage and sub-human ideal where the most useful and beneficial are sacrificed to the most violent and immoral.

But a confident capitalism does not fear the voice of the people.

Communism is always a risk in developing countries where nothing is nothing and where dictatorship (which is what Communism really is) is something attractive for the most immoral and the most cunning members of the tribe.

I just read that 58,000 Americans died in that war. Also, America did NOT lose that war. The South Vietnamese did. The American military did a fantastic job until they withdrew their aid.

2 in one family is such a shame. I don't suppose you will ever find peace with that? Maybe the rigorous opposition to the spread of Communism did some good? I don't know. Who can know? But your loss was a terrible one. And I am sorry for it. As we read the daily news it is reaffirmed that life is a lottery in many ways. Never fair...
