I have been involved in two or three plays in the past couple years which had big insider and institutional holders that resulted in disaster for the company share price. Ex BOD members who got tossed and had a grudge dumped the millions of shares they had in a relentless fashion totally designed to inflict damage on their previous employer and as a result all its shareholders. And then there is cases like Pinetree Capital and Sheldon the Price Slasher. Many companies share price was crushed for months as he dumped millions and millions of shares to try and save his financial ass through the TSX-V slaughter of last year.

Large holders can be good but they can also be a royal pain in the ass. Once they start a sell campaign its hard to get out without taking a loss. I used Pinetrees selling to make some coin but it took some time to figure out which would bounce back and which would stay crushed. Look at what he did to PTK....$1.65 to .60 cents in about three weeks last summer.
