I've been reading and thinking about ROF for a few weeks. It meets a key criteria for me: political expediency. It looks increasingly like the Federal gov't wants to invest in both the economic development as well as the benefits to the isolated communities. Ontario's government wants to as well, but they are idiots and will probably need to be forced to the table by Federal involvement.

What is good in this is that there are many prospect companies that could overnight become viable if the governments choose to invest. NOT is my current lead prospect given what they acquired from Cliffs at a deep discount.

I don't know if it will happen, but certainly the political winds are in the right direction. The geology is compelling in many cases.

It may take a while to happen. The Chinese railroad would be just another part of the story.

I never expected that smelter to be built in Capreol. I know the area well enough to have seen the writing on that wall. As to opening up the ROF, however - that's a political question more than anything else. And yes, I agree that it's going to happen in our lifetime IF a number of things line up (and they seem to be lining up) ... concern for the natives, big spending liberals (Federally) and kiss ass liberals (Provincially), the need to throw a bone to the North.

When I first saw that Sudbury Rag article, I figured having the Chinese on board is a good piece of the puzzle. It claims China needs those resources - I don't know enough about China's natural resources to know if that's true or not, but it seems to make sense. As to NOT - hmm. Not sure. I won't be throwing any money up there in the foreseeable future. But I am watching.
