NCs are being developed as java based thin clients. The NCs that IBM is selling are using Citrix software so they can access WIN NT and UNIX servers. How is DELL going to prosper in a thin java client invironment were the client is not replaced as often? DELL sells many more PCs then servers. There is no way DELL could make up the difference in sales lost with more servers sold unless of cource they sell NCs which will be a low margin biz that every other hightech/consumer electronic company will sell. Frankly this is all a mute point anyhow, because I do not believe that NCs will take the place for PCs any time soon, just too much bandwidth is needed and who the hell wants to give up your independance and have your data stored elsewhere etc. etc.... I was trying to point out your mistake. IBM is not selling NetPCs. NC will be a good replacement for dump green terminals and some PCs. Please show me were DELL had a say in the NC reference design. DELL did have say in the managed PC spec though.
