Brian, the realization is that time is working for Intel and against AMD. As Slot 1 units become larger and larger, motherboard prices will come down (economies of scale, more suppliers). Intel has the PMMX-233 to compete on the low,low end until Intel decides what to do (if anything) with low-cost PII. Intel has 6 months, which should be enough time considering AMD status.

Volume .25m AMD production is still a ways off so I doubt that $30 cost figure you gave is valid short-term. Don't forget all the ramp-up expenses for .25m. Also, I doubt K6-3D will command a premium based on past records.
