The diskless workstation loaded the complete program into local storage and executed it there. In the NC, the program would be normally broken into 2 parts. Only a small part (maybe 10%) that does presentation of data to the user would actually be downloaded and run on the NC, while the other other 90% would run on the application server. This separation of the program should be done in a manner that minimizes network traffic.
