I didn't word that post very well. Alaska has never really been dominated by liberals, but liberals managed to sneak in four dem governors, all of whom served 8 years, between 1968 and 2,000 and in the 70s liberals seized power in the House of Representatives and we leverage that power to achieve great things like the permanent fund, the women's commission, the office of alcoholism and drug abuse and many other government programs that Republicans hate.. We've been the underdogs by and large, ever since I've been here. 1968. But we managed time after time to outwit the conservatives and win with the odds against us.

We won the house in the 70s by outsmarting and out campaigning the Republicans. We knew we would only be in power for a short time. So we concentrated on the social foundation of our state i.e. the laws, the rules and regulations. By the end of the 70s we were swept away into oblivion and today three quarters of our legislature is Republican.

Digressing, do you realize you often say about my posts;" I don't know if that's true"? Do you think I lie about things, or engage in hyperbole? I would never post anything about you like that. I have something like 70,000+ posts and anyone who checks them will see that I don't contradict myself and that they are consistent. I don't post stuff that isn't true.

I'm not supporting your argument at all. Alaska showed what can be done when liberals get organized and fight. TR showed that, FDR showed that and JFK would've shown that if he and Bobby had lived.

I'm not sure what your argument is, exactly? Surely you're not arguing that we should not strive to be as civilized and advanced and as educated as other Western democracies, but should remain near the bottom intellectually and 20 years behind in terms of cultural and social evolution. And I can't figure out why you don't think we can be like Sweden? That completely baffles me.

Maybe you can explain to me exactly what your argument is. I don't want to misrepresent what you're saying, but I don't think it's very clear my head.
