Well it's true that the Seven Sisters have fallen off the cliff and pretty much headed home with their tail between their legs.

That's the cold, hard reality.

Europe reaches 100 GW of installed PV capacity

9.5.2016: The European continent has surpassed 100 GW of grid-connected installed PV power during the current quarter, according to the European solar association SolarPower Europe citing provisional data from US market research company IHS. The association notes that in 2005 Europe's cumulative installed PV capacity was of only 3 GW. This result, SolarPower Europe claims, was made possible by an 80% reduction in the costs of solar energy and the incentive policies for PV implemented by most of European governments over the past years.

In the current post-feed-in tariff climate we must make sure we have the right electricity market design and the right long-term investments signals for solar to flourish. We hope that the European Commission’s forthcoming market design reform and Renewable Energy Directive will pave the way for the 200 gigawatt benchmark,« said SolarPower Europe CEO James Watson.
