JVA-Speculation

Coffee tracking Poster child SJM- PR-* QTRLY U.S. RETAIL COFFEE NET SALES $489.5 MILLION VERSUS $479.4 MILLION.

SNIP>Smucker last month said it would sell its U.S. baking business to a private-equity firm for $375 million, following an industry shift toward faster-growing businesses like coffee and pet food and out of brands that are dragging down sales.

I've taking a liking to Dunkin Doughnuts glazed coffee a SJM product. Shelf space is tight at Walmart. JAB's Peet's is there. JVA trying at Walmart. IMO it doesn't have the resources or scale to establish profitable branding. IMO it should just succumb to being part of someones supply chain. Why not SJM? They would no longer have to worry about the loss of the GMCR business and the Gordon family can gamble with their own golden parachute money.
