Bobby:

I certainly wouldn't attempt to fathom why people go into politics. I suspect that most centimillionaires like Mr. Rubin do so for altruistic reasons, wanting to "serve" if you will, not having any financial goals any longer. But along the way I think they must corrupted by the system. I think our system is ready for some radical reform.

The Mexico bailout may seem to have worked, but I am told that they paid us back by borrowing the money from Europe. Was this just then another symbolic bandaid to prolong paying off the massive world excess debt? I don't pretend to be an expert, but I am becoming somewhat cynical. I know I wasn't happy that those Mexican bondholders, who were getting a risk premium over more conservative bondholders, got their risk eliminated and got paid off by (ultimately) the guy who is buying shoes for his kids at K-Mart.

Yes, the "flu" is very misunderstood by the population at large. It is not a cold, and the "intestinal flu" is not flu at all. Best we have to offer is the vaccine, not perfect, but better than nothing.

I'm going to think about that third party stuff. As you point out, the Internet is perhaps more powerful than our governments, especially where we do indeed have the power of the vote.

Off to work! Thanks for your comments.
