Brumar, I think this quote by Obama deserves to be called out:
That’s a pet peeve of mine — people who have been successful and don’t realize they’ve been lucky.
What a dumb thing to say. Of course success is the result of hard work AND good fortune, but without the former, you're never going to profit from the latter. Whether successful people realize that or not isn't any of Obama's business.

There can only be one reason why this bothers him so much, and it's because he doesn't value the role of hard work.

Best definition of Luck I ever heard: "Being prepared to grab opportunity".

So that is exactly what a young ambitious person, black or white, should be working hard on, being prepared for that or those opportunities coming your way, sometimes very much so with your own help!

Just too bad our First Man has not yet understood and learned how to communicate this to the next generation of great Americans.
