Mark, IMHO the broadcast media has given the guy carte blanche to do whatever he wants without questioning it in any meaningful manner, and their unwillingness to do anything more than "headline news" quality reporting is absolutely shameful.

I'm just trying to put the guy under a microscope, because anyone with this sort of market-moving power IMHO should be held under a microscope.

Example: Cramer had a VERY interesting disclosure in a recent piece on analyst misses in thestreet.com. Cramer wrote that Kurlak was "openly speaking about Asian problems all summer."

Hmmm...that's kind of interesting.

1. One of Kurlak's clients, James J. Cramer, in a recent on-line column wrote that Kurlak was "openly speaking about Asian problems all summer".

2. Summer runs roughly June 21-September 21.

3. Kurlak's name was at the top of an 8/6/97 Merrill research comment on the semiconductor industry which contained the following lead on page 2: "The best of all hoped for scenarios is developing for Q4 for the semiconductor stocks..."

I find that to be more than a little disturbing, as I'm having trouble reconciling how one can label a scenario which includes Asian problems to be the best of all hoped for scenarios.

I would think that someone as "incredibly smart" as Tom Kurlak understands the definitions of the words "best" and "scenario", but who knows? <g>

Good trading,

Tom

ok, mark, you're right. but i do remember being taken to task several times for kicking tk around.

i think that everyone - even those who want to believe in the system - see him for what he is. that is good.

so how is mu, the new age biotech, doing these days? ;-)

i've given up on it as fair value is not on the minds of many at this point and may not be there for some time.

good luck.
